CSci/CSciTeach Revalidation
The awards of CSci and CSciTeach depict a high level of current competency in the practice, application, advancement and/or teaching of science. It is therefore necessary to continue to develop professionalism in order to maintain competency. Chartered Scientists and Chartered Science Teachers who wish to remain on the registers are required to revalidate their professional competency every 5 years through participation in appropriate professional development.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a personal responsibility and there are many ways in which a professional scientist / teacher of science undertakes CPD. It may be through a period of formal training or more frequently through experiential learning and development through work. Appropriate CPD is based on a continuous cycle of Plan, Execute, Review, whereby measurable development occurs through acquiring new knowledge, techniques and skills and implementing them to enhance and/or maintain current levels of competence.

Chartered Scientists and Chartered Science Teachers are required to submit a CPD summary to their Licensed Body at least every 5 years. The returns are monitored and a selected sample scrutinised in more detail. Failure to return a CPD summary will result in removal from the CSci or CSciTeach register.
