IPEM announce new CEO

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) has announced the appointment of Rosemary Cook CBE to the post of Chief Executive Officer

The position will be taken up in August when Robert Neilson, the current CEO will be retiring after 16 years with the Institute.

Rosemary Cook has been Director of the Queen's Nursing Institute for the last seven years.


With a professional background in nursing, Ms Cook has previously held policy and health management roles at the Department of Health and the former NHS Modernisation Agency.

Professor Peter Jarritt, President of IPEM paid tribute to Robert Neilson's time at the Institute saying "Under his guidance the Institute has developed strong links with a wide range of partner organisations and has grown its membership to provide a sound organisational and financial basis from which to build for the future. He has been fully committed to the Institute and on behalf of all our staff and members. I wish him a long and happy retirement.”

This appointment brings to 12 the number of women at the top of the 37 Science Council Member Organisations.
