The Registration Authority, on behalf of the Board, sets and maintains the standards of admission to the registers of Chartered Scientists (CSci) and Chartered Science Teachers (CSciTeach) and is responsible for the licensing of Member Bodies to award CSci and CSciTeach.

Membership of the Registration Authority is largely elected representatives from Licensed Bodies; other members are co-opted for their knowledge and professional expertise pertaining to specific aspects of the regulation of the award(s).
